Helmets
For more than 25 years, EDELRID helmets have reliably protected alpinists and climbers from falling stones and impacts. Even though the requirements have changed significantly within this time, one thing has remained: EDELRID helmets have always stood for quality and safety. EDELRID helmets are characterized by good ventilation, innovative closure systems and robust headlamp mounts. Depending on the area of application, we rely on different helmet technologies:
Softshell Helmets
Softshell (in-mold) helmets have a thin lightweight polycarbonate outer shell that is firmly attached to a shock-absorbing EPS (expanded Polystyrene) foam core. Energy is absorbed by the EPS core, which buckles progressively upon impact. The polycarbonate outer shell protects the EPS core and helps spread impact energy over the whole helmet. Softshell Helmets are particularly lightweight, although slightly less robust than other types of helmet.
Hybrid Helmets
Hybrid helmets combine the advantages of both softshell and hardshell helmets. The outer shell is made of robust and impact-resistant ABS.
Underneath the outer shell, an internal EPS (expanded Polystyrene) foam
shell provides excellent shock absorption. Hybrid helmets are particularly
robust all-rounders.
Hardshell Helmets
Hardshell helmets have an extremely robust and impact-resistant shell
made of polypropylene or ABS. The internal textile webbing cradle increases their energy absorption and ensures that there is clearance between the head and the shell. Their extremely sturdy construction makes this type of helmet ideal for rental use at mountain schools or adventures
parks.
