Welcome to the press area.
Now the basics are laid to score your personal climbing project in summer. That's why the climbing gyms are bursting at the seams at this time. So that everything runs smoothly in the operation of your gym, we have launched an extensive partner program at EDELRID. Whether for initial provision for equipping your wall or its continuing day-to-day operation. We offer wide range of products and services. In this sense, we are pleased to welcome you to the ISPO.
You are out in snow and ice regardless of what the weather looks like? Then we do not want to deprive you of our latest developments like the "Jester Comfort" or the "Attila Tec". Next spring is coming for sure.
The Jester Comfort is a climbing harness and via ferrata set all-in-one. What makes it so innovative? The integrated the energy absorber into the harness leg loops. Its design has the major advantage that it offers full freedom of movement and unparalleled comfort. By doing away with the need for an external shock absorber, the entire system is quasi 'self-enclosed' and far clearer and simpler for wearers to use.
The Attila Tec is the world's first ice axe with a hand rest that can be stowed in the shaft without any need for tools. This makes it a genuine all-round secret weapon when hiking in the high mountain and on glaciers. What makes the Attila Tec truly special is the stowable hand rest. When in steeper terrain, this helps you hold the ice axe safely and securely and plunge it cleanly into the ice. If not required, the rest can be fully stowed away in the bottom section of the shaft without any protruding parts that could get in the way when using the ice axe for support. This ice axe is therefore particularly practical for varied terrain.
EDELRID is your competent and reliable partner, whether for initial provision for equipping your wall or its continuing day-to-day operation. We offer wide range of products – from innovative anchor systems to dedicated ropes for climbing gyms to a PPE app to manage your rental equipment. Futhermore our three-stage DGUV 313-906 training gives you effective and practically relevant training.
Safety, wear resistance, easy installation – these are the most important criteria when selecting products to equip a climbing gym. The new climbing wall top anchor – Topper Station Refit – from EDELRID amply meets all these require-ments. It reduces the amount of wear on ropes, avoids kinking and increases safety with its gate that prevents double clipping or accidental unclipping. In addition, it can be installed from the front, without requiring modification to the wall. All parts subject to wear are replaceable.
The requirements for organisations offering rental PPE equipment are becoming increasingly complex. All equipment has to be inspected and its use documented. This can be costly and take up considerable amounts of time. Each climbing wall is responsible for ensuring that its own equipment is in good working order. That is a significant challenge and we want to support you with our expertise. This is why EDELRID developed a unique new three-stage training concept. It's a combination of training, documentation and user app.
An innovative and new component of the training concept is our PPE-App. Whether you are operating a climbing gym, you are a PPE inspector or a gear junkie – the EDELRID GEAR PILOT enables you to have optimum control over your business. It is a comprehensive tool for the registration, administration and inspection of PPE products. The EDELRID Gear Pilot will save you time and money, but also bring additional transparency to your processes.

We look forward to your visit!
EDELRID and sustainability belong together like rope and carabiner. Together we have already achieved a lot – and written our very own story. A story that tells of the environmental management system EMAS and the standard DIN ISO 14001, the strict bluesign® standard of our ropes and the organic cotton of our textiles or projects in cooperation with the European Outdoor Conservation Association (eoca). In doing so, we master every challenge and keep setting new goals!
And this is also where our steel story begins: While there are almost countless possibilities to produce sustainable textiles you will quickly reach the limits when it comes to metals. For this reason we are particularly proud that we can tell you a story with a happy ending! With the sustainable production of our carabiners, quickdraw kits and belay devices we laid the foundation for a further sustainable product segment within the EDELRID range... This much may be revealed – it is a good story, in which steel and aluminum play the leading role!
Then visit us at this year's Outdoor in Friedrichshafen and we promise you that this won't be the only exciting story we have to tell you!
In the mean time discover further captivating stories about sustainability on our Homepage.
We are looking forward to your visit!

Ropes don't come more eco-friendly than this
As an outdoor equipment manufacturer, EDELRID sees it as self-evident that it acts with the greatest possible respect towards the environment. However, pur-suing sustainability in a consistent manner is a balancing act. The EDELRID Swift Eco Dry rope represents a further important step towards producing more sustainable and eco-friendly outdoor equipment.
The EDELRID steel story continues
The HMS Bulletproof FG is an innovative and robust HMS carabiner with a steel insert at the apex and an internal spring bar to prevent cross loading. It com-bines the advantages of both a steel carabiner and an aluminium carabiner. The steel insert at the carabiner apex protects this section which is particularly sub-jected to abrasion, the rest of the carabiner is made from particularly lightweight aluminium. The HMS Bulletproof FG is available as a screwgate or triple lock version.
Parrot 9.8 mm – the new eco rope
EDELRID is launching the Parrot 9.8, a rope made with reused sheath yarns left over from production. In an upcycling process, up to 95% of high-quality leftover yarns are reused. Rather than discarding them, the sheath yarns left over from standard production are used to make new ropes. This signifi-cantly reduces the amount of waste. And as the color of the leftover yarns can-not be planned in advance, each Parrot 9.8 mm production batch has a unique color mix. This means that each rope is unique.
The latest member of the Jul family: the Mega Jul Sport
The Mega Jul Sport is born of the Mega Jul and the Jul²: it offers the Jul²'s ge-ometry combined with the Mega Jul's delicate structure and double eyelet.
Its body is made from stainless steel. At the lower end, where the rope runs over the device when belaying and releasing, cooling ridges have been incorporated into the steel. Similarly to the tubes on a radiator, these enable faster heat dissipation. This means that the device cools down faster as the frictional heat can be given off more quickly.
19 May 2017: The two German climbing brands EDELRID and RED CHILI are announcing that they are joining forces. This merger will combine the strengths and synergies of the two companies to further actively develop the international climbing market.
RED CHILI will maintain its brand identity under EDELRID. Together, we plan to fur-ther reinforce the strong position on the German market for climbing shoes and fashion-orientated climbing and bouldering apparel that RED CHILI has carved out since it was founded over 20 years ago and acheive international success.
RED CHILI's founders, Stefan Glowacz and Uwe Hofstädter, will remain responsible for brand orientation, apperal and climbing shoe development. In addition, they will both continue to be jointly responsible for the success of the brand in the future.
EDELRID produces and distributes climbing products in over 60 countries. The RED CHILI and EDELRID brands strengthen each other strategically. Together they offer the full range of highest-quality climbing products from hardware through to soft goods. This will allow them to serve the retail trade and end users in an efficient, capable and sustainable manner.
The new product portfolio will be adjusted to the extent that EDELRID will discontinue the climbing shoe collection. Both the RED CHILI and EDELRID apparel lines will continue to be offered to specialist retailers.
The RED CHILI brand will be expanded taking advantage of EDELRID's infrastructural resources. EDELRID has taken on the majority of the workforce from Design and Development. Climbing shoe development will continue jointly at EDELRID headquarters in Isny, in keeping with the RED CHILI slogan "Only climbers know what climbers need."
EDELRID continues to push forward with their expansion into North America and beginning in 2017 has signed Tommy Caldwell as a full line athlete. Tommy's endorsement of and promotion of EDELRID's products will cover the complete climbing product range, including ropes, harnesses, helmets, hardware, and all other climbing related gear. As a 153 year old company who has only begun to make their presence known in North America, this move is an exciting confirmation of things to come.
In 2016, Tommy Caldwell joined the EDELRID Athlete Team, supporting a core product of the company: EDELRID's climbing ropes. After a year of working directly with the brand, Tommy chose to make the bold move to realign his climbing gear related sponsorships exclusively to EDELRID.
"I have been spoiled over the years to have the opportunity to work with amazing companies that put their core values before the bottom dollar. I understand that the products I choose to buy and the companies I choose to partner with are a reflection of my values. A few months ago I made the difficult decision to end my relationship with a brand that I have been with for seventeen years that had provided me with endless inspiration. The best way to live is with vigor and intention, which has led me to the decision to join EDELRID as a full line athlete. I believe this company has the ability to change our ideas of how we move around in the mountains. I am partnering with EDELRID because of their innovation and their ability to be nimble, because they hold themselves to the highest environmental and quality standards, and because they are family owned and value based. These qualities are where I hope the future of climbing lies, and I'm excited to be a part of it", so Tommy.
